Nanoliposome-encapsulated phenolic-rich fraction from Alcea rosea as a dietary phytobiotic in mice challenged by Escherichia coli

Abstract Purpose This research was performed to evaluate the antibacterial and health-promoting potentials of nanoliposome-encapsulated phenolic-rich fraction (PRF) from Alcea rosea leaves, as a dietary phytobiotic, in mice challenged by enteropathogenic Escherichia coli ( E. ; O157: H7). Method The PEF encapsulated nanoliposomes (PEF-NLs), phenolic profiling PEF-NLs confirmed HPLC. Next, 40 white male balb/c were assigned four treatment groups assess potential measuring blood parameters liver’s lipid peroxidation result infection caused . Finally, expression cyclooxygenase 2 (COX2), inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GPx) determined miceʼs ileum tissues. A real-time PCR used analyze relative fold changes population ileum. Results overall results demonstrated that nanoliposome-loaded PRF contained gallic acid, salicylic pyrogallol, cinnamic catechin, naringin, ferulic acid. intervention impaired mice's weight gain, food intake, liver enzymes, peroxidation, ileum’s morphometric characteristics. challenge also upregulated inflammatory genes (COX2, iNOS), downregulated antioxidant-related (SOD GPx), increased inclusion nonencapsulated PRF, at concentration 10 mg TPC/kg BW/day, improved these parameters. However, compared appeared be more effective improving health mice. Conclusion As promising could play critical role against probably due increase higher intestinal solubility, bioavailability, absorption compounds nanoliposome carrier.
